Animanga 101: Doujinshi

Every manga fan happen to stumble upon something, that he didn't want to see. Because sometimes you seek a rest. After reading manga that was bloody, scary or very emotional you just need a heartwarming hug.

But not everyone is like that. Some people want to see more. But it is not always there! At least not from original author. In western culture the reactions of disappointed fans lead to fanfiction. But in Japan (only its origin) it manifested in something more complex - doujinshi. Or graphic novel, manga, that makes up story. Mostly romantic, but often sexual story.

Let me just tell you, that this genre of manga should serve only as some kind of addition to the main story. Which means that it should not change the main plot (not much).

Oh, but doujinshi... If you are lucky enough you will find a really good doujinshi, without necessary sexism. Just cozy, romantic story. Ship full of joy and happiness. So, with this experience you dig deeper. And here you have a doujinshi, that is not exactly what you expected. And trust me, it will not be easy to forget those.

Authors of doujinshi just let their fantasies fly wild and uncontrolled. It is not Final Fantasy, but After Finalest Finalism of Fantasy! It is a recipe for carving deep wounds into your mind and main ingredient is rule 34. If you thought that hentai, or tentacle porn is something weird, you obviously never found magic of doujinshi. And cherry on top - it is mostly yaoi (man x man).

So why would anyone sane go and withstand this? Well, because we need it. Because reading one good doujinshi out of ten is enough. It is possible that term "bromance" will be cast out  from your life. Simply because term bromance or friendzone does not exist in doujinshi. Nevertheless it is as enjoyable as scary at the same time. And how is it for you? Did you ever read doujinshi and how was it? Will you read it again?
